Help me fill things for my Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone portion? 18 day Solo Trip in April

Hi all,

I am looking to have someone check my itinerary. This will be my second time in Japan, and have previously stayed within Tokyo only before.

I’m mostly looking for help regarding the Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka-Hakone portion, as I feel like it’s not as optimized as it can be.

I have some regrets having my JR pass expiring in on the day back from Hakone, but I really want to spend an extra day in Osaka.
Kyoto I’m rushing a bit since I’m skipping Arashiyama, and some other temples/shrines.
For some reason I can’t pinpoint Hakone down, I haven’t booked a Ryokan yet but I’m looking to get one with a private onsen (hopefully looking at Mt. Fuji).

  1. That seems ineffective to go to Fushimi then check out to go to Uji… then go to Kyoto station to get on the shinkansen.

This kind of depend on where your hotel is, but what I think make most sense is check out, if hotel is near Kyoto station, put luggage in locker there, go to Fushimi Inari, then Uji, back to Kyoto station. Then taking the shinkansen might not even be faster than takin one of the rapid train, that kind of depend on where you are going in Osaka.

Also, I do not see how you would save anything by getting the JR Pass, you might as well not and just take the Nozomi to go to Kyoto. If you don’t get it, then really don’t use the shinkansen between Kyoto and Osaka.

I hope you know that Chureito Pagoda is not in Hakone but in Kawaguchiko, that is at least 2h away by bus.
