One would think having an untried war criminal in the family would inform hm against such a thing.
Nobusuke Kishi was a Class A war criminal for his terrorist antics in occupied China during the war, but he was deemed too useful to execute like Hirohito and Shiro Ishii. He was his great uncle or something.
On the other hand his great grandfather Kan Abe was a stanch pacifist and someone to be proud of being related to.
