Black Company or Not?

Hi I saw a company called Sy Systems where their whole pitch is that they train people with 0 experience to become system engineers.

The salary starts at 240万 for a year, I haven’t heard of this company before and any system like this. So I’m wondering if there are any red flags I’m missing.

  1. How old are you? Join, stay for a year or more and take the experience elsewhere? Does it really matter what color they are? I mean IT experience free to study

  2. the salary is the red flag. That is lower than new grad bachelors who are trained from 0 experience as well. Though not by much

  3. I think I would draw a distinction between a ‘ブラック企業’ – a company that *could* pay more but doesn’t, for example – vs a small company struggling to stay competitive.

I’ve known companies that couldn’t pay well, hours often long, but great to work out.

Also known companies that did at least pay well, but long hours and horrible management.

Regarding Sy Systems – the company itself appears to have been around a while, and supposedly has a number of businesses, not just IT training. But the website isn’t really up to date (some parts haven’t been updated in 5 years). Flip side – it appears to have a parent company that’s actually listed – share price is up 40% in the past year. Kinda interesting.

Still could be a Black company or not, of course. Y2.4mn salary to get paid to be trained doesn’t sound like the worse option in the world, but who knows?

  4. If I had no relevant work and educational experience, I’ll get it just for the experience. Then I’ll hop onto better companies later.
