Best ALT company while already living in japan?

I am already living in Japan currently teaching at an Eikawa. I would like to switch over to an ALT job, preferably closer to Tokyo. What are my best options for ALT companies when I already live in Japan? I’ve done research but everything I can find only talks about when living outside of the country. I would assume the search would be a bit easier/have better prospects if I’m already in the country and teaching here. Even searching this subreddit didn’t come up with much. The first result I got was “Which Friends Character would make the best ALT”. Any help would be appreciated. My ideal location would be Saitama, maybe right between Utsunomiya and Tokyo.

  1. All ALT companies are shit period.

BOE jobs are the only thing even remotely close to non shit and only just.

  2. the private school dispatchers in Tokyo

though, without prior ALT exp, might be harder get in

  3. Have you tried Educational Network? Like Sagan Speak that someone mentioned earlier, they cater to private schools. They mostly dispatch part-time Japanese teachers for all subjects, but they also have contracts for ALTs.

  4. Asking “what is the best ALT company” is like asking “what is the best pimp to work for.” There are some that will mistreat you less, but they are all terrible. Enter the country with one, but then try to find a direct hire ASAP.

  5. If you’re Japan already and have experience, why not look for a direct hire job? The only reason I see to not do that is if the cities in your preferred area don’t do direct hire.

  6. Avoid ALT companies and apply directly to BoEs that direct hire. r/altinginjapan has a number of posts about direct hire ALT jobs.
