Hey so I have two questions and hope these fit in the sub.
1. In an argument could the two people who would otherwise talk formally to one another use the short forms to sorta reduce the respect or would they stick to formal grammar if that was how they would normally talk.
2. Because of how context heavy japnese is, would you say it is harder to eavesdrop on a japanese conversation versus an english one?

1. It depends. Sometimes conversation jumps from informal to formal speech and that’s the indication that someone is now angry. … other times language can become more informal and rude. We do the same in English, really.
2. Not any more than English I don’t think. Once a subject is established in English we drop it or replace it with pronoun words or w/e. Listen long enough and you can probably get the context.
