Preparations for an language School intake Interview

Hello dear japanese language learners,

I will attempt an intake Interview in the next days and I wanted to ask if some of you got some experience in these interviews? For me, I am still a beginner and the Interview is just to check my japanese Level and in which class they can put me.

Maybe some of you had done the same interview in the past and could tell me what I need to know and how to prepare the best.

Thank you so much.
Best regards 🙂

  1. I did one of these interviews. How they do it will change between schools and even between interviewers I think. The point is to asses your Japanese level so they can put you into the appropriate class, I don’t think it’s really something to prepare for. It’s just one of the teachers talking to you, asking questions, etc. and assessing how you answer to figure out what you know. Just don’t worry about it.

  2. It will depend on the school. Mostly try to relax, sleep well the night before and answer as best as you can. This is not a test you pass or fail, so don’t stress!

Most likely they will start with something basic like asking if you can introduce yourself in Japanese.

Then they will ask you some further questions to get a better idea of which level to put you in. This will be based on their class levels but will be likely either follow ups to what you said or simple questions about yourself (e.g. about your hobbies or something)
