has anyone ever travelled out of tokyo to a different country while still trying to use usd? what did you do?
I’m basically traveling to vietnam in a few days and want some usd to exchange when i get there.
not sure how/ if it’s even possible to take out usd in japan.
is it better to just take out yen in a japanese atm from my u.s. card and bring it to hanoi?
i just want a good exchange rate and i’m not sure how everything works, from what i see in vietnam it’s best to arrive with usd and exchange it for vnd in a jewelry store, but im living in tokyo at the moment.

I went to Vietnam over the New Year’s holiday. I got a Wise (Transferwise) card and put some money in the account and withdrew from their ATM machines there.
You can change yen to USD at the airport. Probably not a great rate.
