Weird Things Happen In Dreams

Last night I was dreaming and I guess attempting to speak Japanese. I can’t remember the exact context of where I was, but it was cool nonetheless. When I was about to wake up, in that weird period where you are still kind of dreaming but also sort of aware of your consciousness and surroundings, I remember the last thing I had spoken. For whatever reason it felt like I was almost going over my anki cards in my dream. I do not remember what word it was, but I remember it started with あ. I also remember it was the first word of a sentence card in my anki deck. Honestly, maybe I just made this word up entirely and I can’t remember it, or maybe it’s one of the those words I just can’t seem to recall. Just an interesting dream overall and maybe gives a little proof as to how everything we’ve learned we retain in some part of the brain, it’s just a matter of seeing it over and over again while conscious and bringing it to the “front” of our memories and recollection. Since I am still new to Japanese and don’t have an expansive vocabulary, it was still kinda cool to have a dream where I at least attempted to think in Japanese.

Edit: I figured it out. The word was 答え. So, it doesn’t started with あ of course, but the word in English does start with A, since it is Answer. I was looking at my notes and realized that’s what it was, just clicked for some reason lol.

  1. it’s fine to use thoughts and dreams as a driver for looking things up

but beware looking to thoughts and dreams for examples of correctness, as it’s impossible to separate “a thought, grammatically and lexically correct” from “a thought OF BEING grammatically and lexically correct”

  2. A had a dream where I had memories on vhs tapes and I was picking them up and watching them but all the labels on the tapes were written in impossible kanji that don’t exist
