Anyone else thinks Sagawa express sucks on ice?

I missed a delivery which I was expecting to cause I figured I’d be at work, no biggie. So I call to see if I could get it tonight and when the guy picks up I open with “hello, I wasn’t home when a package I was expecting was delivered but I’m back now.” And I was expecting to get a “ok, can I get your name?” That’s how things usually go with the other carriers. Instead I just get a “I don’t understand.” Which after a very unfriendly back-and-forth figured out thats how he thought he oughta ask for my name. And the whole phone call went similarly. Dude was just obtuse, crappy, and unfriendly. I usually don’t get snippy with customer service people but that guy really pushed my buttons.

  1. Not that I don’t sympathize. It’s just they have your parcel, are short staffed, and have hiring issues. So I wouldn’t pick a fight with them. It ain’t worth it.

  2. Sagawa won’t do a re-delivery once their trucks have finished their routes in your area for the day. If you know you’re going to miss a delivery it’s better to just contact them ahead of time and reschedule the delivery.

  3. Sagawa blows. They’re the only delivery company that will consistently sneak up to my house as quietly as possible so as not to alert me and then slip the “attempted delivery” notice in my box without actually ringing the intercom.

  4. Never had a issue with sagawa or any delivery companies for that matter. But I’ve been here for years and it’s almost always the same few delivery guys. The only one that staff changes often is JP.

  5. If you called the handwritten phone number (it’ll be a mobile), then that’s probably the delivery driver himself rather than customer service. He probably doesn’t give a shit. Also Sagawa, I had one phoning me asking where I was and grunting at me like a toddler because he came 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time and I said I wasn’t there yet.

  6. I agree. Their staff aren’t usually trained well and don’t have much common sense. My stuff has been delivered to my neighbors house countless times even though the nameplate is COMPLETELY different (even has first names included). I’ve complained very nicely a few times but starting to think they’re doing it on purpose.

I also send out quite a lot of stuff at work and we never use Sagawa. They have a bad reputation of mishandling luggage.
