I’m planning a summer trip to Hokkaido and I was intrigued by the Kushiro marshes and the red-crowned cranes that live there, but I’ve then read that the best season to see them is winter. The marshes in summer look amazing in photos but the park seems very difficult to visit outside the crane’s facilities that are closed during summer months.
I’m planning to also visit the Furano/Biei area, mount Asahi and Shiretoko national park.
What do you think? Should I visit Kushito regardless or there are better alternatives for a summer visit?
