New arrests of 19- and 21-year-olds for robbery and murder in Komae City, bringing the total number of arrests to four.

Among a string of robberies across Japan, the Metropolitan Police on 22 January arrested two men, aged 19 and 21, on new charges of robbery-homicide and housebreaking for their involvement in a robbery-homicide in Komae City, Tokyo, in January this year. On the morning of the same day, Hiroyuki Nomura, 52, was arrested on suspicion of robbery-homicide and breaking and entering, and Seigo Fukushima, 34, on suspicion of aiding and abetting a robbery-homicide, bringing the total number of arrested persons to four.

   Newly arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder were Rikuto Nagata, 21, Kanazawa, and a boy, 19, Nakano Ward, Tokyo.

   According to investigators, the two suspects are suspected of conspiring with Nomura to break into a house in Komae City on 19 January, murder the resident, Koroyo Oshio, 90, and take a luxury watch and rings (worth 600,000 yen in total) from the house. Fukushima is suspected of aiding and abetting the perpetrators by arranging the rental car they used.

   The Nagata suspect was arrested and charged with being the perpetrator of another robbery and assault that occurred in Nakano Ward in December last year. A juvenile was also arrested at the end of last month for allegedly attempting to change the address on a forged driver’s licence in Ishikawa Prefecture, on suspicion of using a forged sealed official document.
