  1. You bought something and you paid for it. The seller will ship it to you. You then confirm the receipt of the product. Not sure what your issue here is.

  2. That’s what happens when you buy an item. Money is taken from you, you receive item.. you don’t get the money back.

  3. You can request the seller to cancel the transaction before they ship out your item, if that’s what you are looking for.

  4. Isn’t this how internet shopping works? You buy said item, they charge you, then they ship it out.

  5. OP probably thinking you pay after receiving. That’s not how internet shopping works. Payment gets verified first before shipment.

  6. I pooped, and then flushed the toilet. Then I wiped and put the toilet paper in the toilet but the poop was already gone, how do I get the poop back?

  7. The money is taken from your account and basically put on hold. The seller does NOT receive the funds until a) they’ve confirmed they shipped and b) you’ve confirmed you received the item and are happy with it.

  8. Do you mean you bought it and paid for it, but somebody else bought it at the same time and so it was sold to them? That happened to me once and the money was automatically returned after about a day or so.

  9. You pay first. The seller gets a notification and ships the item. You receive the item. You give an appraisal of the service/item and confirm receipt. The seller appraises you and they get paid.

  10. When you buy an item on Mercari, the payment goes immediately to Mercari as the middle-man, and the seller only gets the money after you’ve confirmed that you received the item. You can ask the seller to cancel the transaction if it was done in error. If the seller agrees to cancel, they have to contact Mercari and provide a reason for the cancellation.

  11. Once you click on the final buy button the money is taken from whatever source you selected to pay with. The money is then held by Mercari until you receive the item and click item received button. Up until that final click you can request to cancel the transaction. Highly unlikely the seller will comply unless the item does not match the description or is damaged in some way.

  12. Hi OP, I have to admit that I thought it’s a silly question but to be fair, I understand why you’d be anxious. Mercari will hold on to your payment until you confirm that you have received the item. Only then will the seller receive the proceeds from your purchase. In case you do not receive the item within a specified number of days, you are entitled to a refund. I’ve bought and sold stuff through Mercari and all I can say is you don’t have to worry too much about scams. If you’d like to cancel the transaction, I suggest checking first if the product has already been shipped. You can always message the seller or reach Mercari customer service.
