I started working on Genki+Tango and RTK daily for the last month or so.
I know it was probably said here couple of time but, Genki first 2 lesson were very good, including the tasks in the work book. BUT (forgive my language) lesson 3 is just dropping you from cliff with no safety measures at all besides giving me the vocab. It pretty much forced me now to stop everything else, and just do vocab on around 30-40 kanjis which would probably take 2-3 weeks to master before I continue. Is this by design or just a flaw in the book progression system?
Anyone who used Genki 1, how did you work on the 3rd lesson

In general I went through Genki with a ~2 week headstart on vocab, meaning I learned the vocab for lesson 3 while doing lesson 1, for lesson 4 while doing lesson 2, etc. This made going through each lesson a lot smoother, since I already knew most words.
Watch Tokini Andy on YouTube. He does great explanations.
The third lesson of Genki is definitely tough. There’s a lot to contend with (verbs, particles, especially に and で which are a bit confusing at first, no more romaji, and overall just being kind of packed with stuff to learn. After lesson 3, no other lesson was as difficult, and working through Genki 1 and 2 was no problem. Lesson 6 was probably the second toughest (they introduce the て-form there) but I didn’t think it was as bad.
The best advice I can give is to just give it a little extra time and not to feel bad for being a bit thrown by it. Other people mentioned using some sort of extra resource, and that’s probably the best idea. The Dictionary of Japanese Grammar helped me a lot.
Tokini Andy has a video on lesson 3.
