Itinerary Check (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto: March 4 – 18)

Hey everyone, super last minute itinerary check for myself and three others who are visiting Japan this weekend for two weeks! We’ll probs start each day around 9:30am or 10:00am. We have two full days without any plans at the end of our trip, but wanted to keep it kind of chill. I’ve asked for a few recommendations in case we will have a lot more time to do things. Thanks for all the help in advance!

**TOKYO**

**March 4**

* Arrive at Narita at 5:45pm
* Train to Hotel and rest until next morning

**March 5**

* Travel to Asakusa for Senso-Ji, Nakamise Dori Street shoppiing, Cha-Cha Futatsume
* Walk to Tokyo Skytree enjoy some shopping and some lunch (not sure if we will go up it yet)
* Travel to Akihabara for shopping (have a big list of stores to go to) and dinner

**March 6**

* Head to Yushima Tenjin Shrine for Plum Blossoms
* Travel by train to Kichijoji, walk around Nakamichidori Shopping Arcade and get picnic supplies, picnic in Inokashira Park, Ghibli Museum at 2pm then some more Kichijoji exploration before returning home
* (Is this enough for the day?)

**March 7**

* Get up early and head to our Tsukiji Market Tour until 11:30am
* Travel to Shibuya for some sightseeing and shopping for the day (any recommedations?)
* Visit Shibuya Sky for sunset around 5:30
* Have dinner nearby and head to a bar

**March 8**

* Travelling to Osaka by Shinakansen
* Check in at hotel
* Head to Dotonbori for the afternoon and evening for dinner

**March 9**

* Full day at Universal Studios Japan

**March 10**

* Head to Shittenoji temple in the morning
* Head to Shinsekai for midday lunch and some afternoon sightseeing
* (Not sure what else to do in here?)
* TeamLab Botannical in the evening

**March 11**

* Travel to Kyoto
* Explore Gion and Pontocho in the afternoon and evening
* Any recommendations for dinner?

**March 12**

* Wake up early and head to Toei Park for a few hours
* Head to Arashiyama aroound midday, enjoy bamboo grove, Nonomiya Shrine Visit World Heritage Site Tenryu-ji Temple, Yojiya and Arabica Kyoto ( is it worth seeing the monkeys?)
* Nothing planned for the evening, but we might just take it off to relax

**March 13**

* Wake up early and head to Fushimi Inari, walk for a couple of hours as I know it is quite long
* Head to Nishiki Market for lunch
* Head to Higashiyama and walk towards Kiyomizu Dera for sunset
* Dinner nearby Kiyomizu Dera

**March 14**

* Travel back to Tokyo
* Staying in Shinjuku, sightsee the Godzilla statue and have a walk around the neighbourhood
* Was interested in going to Artnia for dinner though I am unsure if we need to book
* Head to BACON bar I believe it is called?

**March 15**

* Day trip to Hakone, Hakone Shrine and Peace Shrine Gate, Old Tokaido Cedar Avenue, Hakone Checkpoint, Pirate Ship cruise, Hakone Open Air Museum

**March 16-17**

* Plan to go to Harajuku and Shimokitazawa on March 16
* Have booked the Chainsaw Man cafe on evening of March 17
* Might meet some friends but nothing concrete yet

**March 18**

* Shopping in Ikebukuro prior to our flight at 6pm

Some of these days are thick/thin on plans so let me know what you guys think and if you have any recommendations!

All I’ll really say is that you have a lot of shopping days early in your trip, which would be fine if you were staying in Tokyo the whole time, but keep in mind all the stuff you buy you’re now going to have to lug with you to Osaka/Kyoto and back. Since most of the shopping is *in* Tokyo, I’d suggest to do it after you return to Tokyo.

    A fun thing that I always suggest (and that I’m doing) if it is within your means: since I want a nice suitcase and I love the ones Tokyu Hands has, when I travel to Japan in a few weeks I’m only bringing a carry on, and then my last couple of days I’m going to go buy a suitcase and THEN do all my Akihabara shopping and stuff like that, so that I can load up this empty suitcase and check it on the way back.
