Birth control pills

Hi! I’ll be traveling to Japan in June for 2 weeks and I’m bringing 2 packs of birth control pills (2months supply as I need to switch packs midway). I’ll have a doctors prescription, do I need to declare at the airport + register beforehand

  1. For prescription medications you are limited to a one month supply (non-prescription you can have up to two months).

So it might be annoying, but you may need to pop out what you need from the second pack and just bring that. granted, another guideline is to keep the medication in its original packaging, so…you might want to look into getting the customs form submitted at the link I put in the edit.

You will not need to fill anything out, but it might be good to have a copy of the script just in case you get asked.

  2. #4 should have your answer [https://www.seattle.us.emb-japan.go.jp/faq/faq.htm](https://www.seattle.us.emb-japan.go.jp/faq/faq.htm) and you don’t need to declare if it is within legal limit. Only for certain stuff that you need prior authorization before coming to the country.

Also since they mentioned 1 month, are you able to cut the pack and make it a 1 month supply?

  3. You will need to declare if you take more than a month’s worth but another option might be cutting the packet to just take what you need

  4. I’ll be in the same situation when I go over the summer and I’m planning to just bring the new pack and finish the old one when I get back home.
