I have an itinerary in July, where we will be staying in Hakone, then traveling to Mishima stn via bus (i believe this is the only way for public transport excl. taxi), then taking a direct bus up to Fujinomiya 5th station for the climb. After the climb, we will then be traveling to Takayama and staying at a ryokan there.
Can anyone provide any information regarding the luggage storage options?
1) is there luggage storage at Fujinomiya 5th station? I’ve heard conflicting information that there is and there isn’t.
2) is it a better idea to look into luggage transport? Yamato unfortunately doesn’t have any “stations” in either Hakone or Takayama.
3) any better suggestions for us?
I’ve tried my best to scour the internet for small blogs and reddit posts looking for any concrete recent information regarding this. I’ve found some information but it was from 6+ years ago, and so I do not know how accurate it is anymore especially with COVID changes.

Hotels are usually able to help with shipping with Yamato transport, they should be able to deliver from Hakone to Takayama. You could also leave your luggage at Mishima station as I guess you would return there to take the shinkansen to Nagoya to then take the train to Takayama.
Gah it’s been almost five years so my brain is a little hazy, but I believe we were able to put our luggage in some room at the 5th station… I’m pretty sure we were. But even better if you just have it shipped from your hotel.
