Hello, I’m leaving Japan soon and have over 10k Yen left on my Apple Pay Suica. I don’t intend on coming back to Japan. Is there any way I can get a refund, withdraw the cash, or transfer my balance to another card (or another iPhone)?
Install the Mobile Suica app and you should be able to close the card and transfer the balance to bank account.
Use your suica to buy stuff
Best advice is just to use it for shopping, suica is taken almost everywhere. Use it for breakfast lunch and dinner for a few days, go buy souvenirs, whatever. Yodobashi takes it, Donki takes it, department stores take it, bookstores take it.
You can also use it to get to the airport, and at every store in the airport.
I assume whatever hassle it would take to transfer it would be more annoying than just using it.
Go on a beer vending machine crawl.
These days, it’s both a fun and challenging hobby.
They don’t always take IC cards though, but that just adds to the excitement.
