I’m going to meet some japanese students tomorrow afternoon. What are some question you would like to ask them ?

My japanese teacher organized a meet and greet with some japanese students who are studying abroad in France.

I thought it would be fun to share it with you guys if you have some specific questions.

We are not studying in the same field, but we are on the same campus.

I’ll edit the post with question and answer when I meet them.

  1. That is so cool that they are studying in France. Please ask them what attracted them to French.

  2. What do they feel is the minimum required JLPT level to be able to survive in Japan for more than a week or two?

  3. Sorts leur des expressions, des contractions de mots / de phrases ou même juste un accent à la québécoise pour les mettre à l’épreuve! 🤘😁

  4. My old Uni had a language café during lunch time every week where foreign japanese students showed, as well as many japanese learning students. It turned into a nice friend group actually. I suggest you start something similar so you meet more frequently with them as you can both teach each other new things.

  5. Of course it will most likely vary from person to person but, I’d be pretty curious about how they would feel about tipping in bars/restaurants. Like, would you feel obligated to tip? Would you be annoyed by it, or maybe uncomfortable (if you do/don’t)? etc.

  6. I wonder what they think of the unrest in France at this time concerning the pension reform debacle. If they are comfortable talking about it, I would ask if they have seen or participated in protests. Do they note a difference between France’s methods and Japan’s methods of responding to legislation that is controversial?
