Hi, I’ll be 30 soon, so if I wanted to get the working holiday visa and go to Japan, I’ll have to do that asap.
However, I’m working for a really good company in my home country and I don’t want to quit because of couple of benefits we have. I’m working full remote with basically whole world across different time zones, so it doesn’t really matter where I’m located. My manager is also okay with me moving to Japan for the duration of working holiday.
I wasn’t able to find much info whether working holiday visa allows continuing work for a home-country company. Maybe I’m just using really bad keywords, but I didn’t find anything useful.
Is there anyone who kept working for their company on working holiday? Would you please share your experience before I take this to the embassy? Thank you.
*Edit: Read the requirements wrong and it’s 30 years old including, so I don’t need to apply asap, but the questions still stand.*

There is no restriction against this on a working holiday, as long as you’re not involved in “adult oriented” industries.
Just remember that if you’re physically present in Japan you will owe taxes on your income to Japan. Your employer may also be required to submit some filings on your behalf.
You’ll want to make crystal clear with your employer that they are fine for you to continue working as a resident of Japan.
