help with travel insurance please

I am a student in Japan and will be traveling to the States and want to buy a travel insurance.

However, I couldn’t find a travel insurance option that I can purchase in English. The one I know (sompo) is only in Japanese and I am a bit worried of entering an insurance contract in a language that I am not familiar with.

Hence, I would like some suggestions from Japanese residents here for travel insurance to the States that has English information. Could you please give some alternative options that you used before?

I am sorry if the post is not directly related to this sub, thanks for the help!

  1. Check your credit card doesn’t provide insurance automatically. Mine does, but I also usually top it up with the Sompo one. If you’re worried about the Japanese, just get Google chrome to auto-translate the page or something. It also allows you to print an English copy of the insurance plan.

  2. HS Insurance Co., Ltd ( エイチ・エス損害保険株式会社 )

You can get an Insurance policy in English. Ive used this company a couple of times before.

  3. I’ve been able to add insurance through the airline or the credit card company when purchasing my flight. Perhaps there’s a window to still add it after purchase. That’s my only knowledge as you’re not a U.S. resistant anymore

  4. You can buy it at the airport. After you check in and before you go through the security gate, there is an area that sells insurance. One of the booths (AIG) sells it in English. They won’t sell you insurance if you can’t understand Japanese at the Japanese only insurance companies. You can do this at either Haneda or Narita

  5. I’m using Sompo when traveling. Yes info needs to input in JP but you get Japanese and English document as well.
