  1. Blaming Covid in the article, I see. The cause couldn’t possibly be the family- and child-hostile society this country has built for itself, could it?

  2. In Japan, having children is quickly becoming more of a rich person’s hobby. If you want a well-educated child, you must set them up for success. Everything is either a competition or a waitlist. It starts from preschool and goes all the way to college. To get into a good school, children need to pass exams, which means they go through years of cram school to have a chance at passing.

Also, most families have dual-income earners. Low wages make it impossible for one salary to cover everything. The work culture is also very intense, with a lot of overtime. Families don’t get a lot of time to be together. It’s a big problem, and it won’t get better until Japan addresses all the issues that working-class families face.

Japan should look to Europe for ideas on how to support families.

  3. Rich countries have less babies, it’s a constant phenomena all over the world, even in China which has the tradition of “Children bring luck” people started having less children after they got rich.

So, what’s the government solution ? give more money to people! LOL, did we invented statistics so people can ignore it ?

The solution is in the statistics, people in poor countries are having more babies than they can afford. So, make the country poor!!
