Monthly Jobs Thread – 03 March 2023

This month’s jobs thread!

Post jobs you are aware of. Location is a must. Salary is strongly encouraged (yes even a range). Links to third-party job sites and “XYZ company has PDQ jobs available”-type comments are strongly discouraged and may be removed. Also, keep it legal and remember that this not the place for people living outside Japan to find a job in Japan—those discussions belong at r/movingtojapan.

Note: Rule 3 still applies. Employers that are not based in Japan may not post here.

  1. TSMC is [hiring](https://www.tsmc.com/static/english/careers/index.htm), and are desperate to fill people for the [Kumamoto](https://ro.careers.tsmc.com/search/?createNewAlert=false&q=&optionsFacetsDD_city=Kumamoto) factory which will open soon:

Mostly engineering and IT positions but more will keep opening up. Some of the requirements might be seem high but they’re crazy to think that they’re going to be able to get top talent to move down to Kumamoto and I think that if you can speak English and have any experience in the fields they’ll ask for an interview, especially as the factory opening date looms closer. Annoyingly, salary information is not listed and I don’t know the values for all of the positions. I know they’re going to try to lean into the whole ‘cost of life is cheaper in Kumamoto so you don’t need a high salary!’ but they’re not exactly getting hundreds of candidates a month so I’m pretty sure you can negotiate hard.

Kumamoto isn’t exactly full of bilingual high-skilled jobs, so if you do want to move to the region while advancing your career you could definitely do worse!

  2. I only have 2 months to find a tech job before my visa expires (been searching for a month and have a few interviews in progress) but just in case, how easy is it to find a teaching job that sponsors visas?
