Nuro Hikkari – 2 bloody months to finish the installation???

Does anybody know why dafaq it takes so long for them to instal?

I lived in 中央区 are in ikotate before and it took only 1 week between 1st and 2nd installation for Nuro.

Now, I moved out to a mansion in suburbs. They did their 1st check and just today announced that they are going to do the 2nd installation on 4/24.

Is this normal? Our area falls under their 2Gbs offer, not 10Gbs. Starting to think whether it is worth to wait so long.

Anyone else with similar experience?

  1. You only have to wait 2 months? I waited 6 months and even had auHikari installed temporary because I was sick of the pocket wifi.

  2. When I first moved in a mansion I signed up for it because it seemed well recommended. After 2 months with no construction in sight I ended up canceling and going for Softbank. Huge waste of time. Had 0 problems with SB.

  3. Normal stupid Japan inefficiency thing. Not uncommon to get a quote for June installation when booked later in March.

  4. Probably not even the installation. Like someone else said, I had to wait 1 1/2 months before I got NTT Flets service in an apartment that the previous tenant had the same exact service at.

That’s why my wife and I get things arranged far in advance. And in the process, it seemed the ‘installation’ was a guy coming out to plug in the ONU to the wall, and that would take a few weeks to arrange. I did it myself the first day we moved in. But, Nuro can be different, so…

  5. It took 6+ months for me.

But I live in an historic neighborhood and had to get permission from the city and all the neighbors for the “construction” work. So I thought the ridiculous timeline was just unique to my situation…

  6. When I signed up for Docomo hikari, weekend installation was about 2 months out. But I opted for weekday installation and waited about 1 month.

  7. Dude I’m waiting for my 10gbps line and there’s literally fibre all the way up to the neighbour but for us they can’t do anything at the moment and can’t give timelines. Both NTT and bbiq saying the same stuff. Frustrating to say the least

  8. 2 months is nothing. You’re lucky you even got installation date on April, the season where everyone is moving. I waited 6 months for my Nuro installation for my mansion. We needed permission from the whole owner association so it took a while. But in the end I’m glad I did, Nuro has been worth it.

  9. It’s because while nuro uses Sony owned lines, the construction is still done by NTT, so NTT basically have a monopoly on the installation service. Your schedule is mixed in with all the other providers that rely on NTT to install the line.

  10. I had gotten tired of waiting on Nuro. Went with AU Hikari 10g and have been happy ever since. 😁

  11. I was super lucky. Only waited a week for both indoor and outdoor installation

  12. It could be to do with this time of the year being their busy season. I booked our installation for last week at the beginning of February because I was worried about a wait like that.

  13. IF it’s 2 months, you’re probably not waiting for pole to house, or building internal activation… you’re probably waiting for region to pole wiring which will have a schedule, permits, road blocking, etc….
