Buying concert tickets on ticket.co.jp

Can someone tell me how exactly this works as a foreigner? I moved to Japan in January, and there’s a band I want to see but it’s sold out. I saw on this subreddit that some people recommended using ticket.co.jp. But I noticed when searching for tickets that some of them say male name or female name or no name. What does this mean? Will I get ID checked at the door and therefore be unable to be let in once they see my name is Japanese when I am clearly not? Is this how it works?

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

  1. Check the band’s website (or maybe the ticket info page) and see if they will have ID checks for that particular show. If they don’t mention anything, they most likely won’t do checks and it should be okay (but there’s still always a risk that they will do checks).

  2. ID and gender matching is almost never done in Japan in my experience, but you should check to see the specific entry rules for the concert you want to go to.
