8/10 given it was very well priced for a high end omakase, though it wasn’t anything mind blowing. The experience aspect of it also felt like it fell flat; the counter had very few spots, but it still felt like it was lacking the “intimate” feeling you get from high end omakases. The rice was good, though a bit on the saltier side. They didn’t have many interesting fish, as you can tell, although they had some interesting seasonings. Extremely fresh ingredients all around, as is to be expected from the price range. The service was top notch and their sake list was crazy good, they had a lot of fresh bottles that you would only find in Japan and not in many retail stores in the US, if any. Would recommend at the $180 price point for the counter given you get a lot of high quality food. I would say its a good intro to high end omakase, so if you’re on the fence about splurging I’d try this one as it’s 50%+ less than other top omakase in nyc. T
nice
Love omakase nigiri when there’s no extra stuff on top.
This was my first ever omakase about 7 years ago and really opened the world of sushi up to me.
You’re missing a few pics. That’s only 18.
I liked the Omakase, and like you said it was nothing special, but what threw me off of this particular place was that the chef was being such a bitch. I asked him some basic questions like “oh what cut is this?” and he just said “please don’t talk to me and enjoy the food”
I also went here, I thought it was good but definitely not worth the price point. And I agree, the whole experience felt very 2-dimensional.
Are you a lefty? Most of the nigiri in your pictures are placed for a lefty, but others are not. It’s making my OCD flare haha!
OP didn’t touch that ginger at all! Hahaha 😆
Hand you been to Shinn East, sushi by M, sushi on me, or shiki? How does this compare? I was looking for a spot <100 for this weekend but have this place on my list for a special occasion
