how’s nuro hikari doing for you guys?

Is it true that it’s sometimes slow or throttling? Any recommendations aside from nuro? Thanks in advance!

  1. Been using them since 2020, never felt any throttling. 23-ku here with mansion 2G type. Last week speedtest result was 940 Mbps download / 640 Mbps upload wired. This was at night 20:00 o’clock.

I did have to replace the router once. The wifi connection had an intermittent lost. But after replacing it’s all good now.

  2. I read bad reviews about Nuro everywhere, but I got mine 1 year ago and it’s been awesome.
Super fast download & upload. Can download gta 5 (90GB or so) in just 20-30 minutes, while on Softbank hikari was almost 1 hour.

  3. Nuro’s been having a lot of problems with packet loss. It’s become kind of a meme online because it hit a lot of streamers/youtubers/vtubers all at once. I guess it’s because they’ve just been adding subscribers non-stop without caring about bandwidth. It’s regional so you could still get lucky.

We just went with one of the major hikari carriers since you can switch providers on the fly in case one provider sucks.

  4. I’ve been using it since June last year and so far so good. I had a lot of problems in the beginning, but that due to their router, after i changed it to a different one it has been pretty good*.

I live in an apartment (nuro is available for all six units), although the throttling ain’t that bad, it is present during peak hours. I might lose up to 40% of my download speed. Unfortunately in my case I also have noticed some packet loss during online gaming. It ain’t that often, or maybe it’s because I don’t play that often, but I didn’t had that with my previous providers. I’m in Aichi, if that matters.

  5. Mine was great until a few months ago- I feel like it goes on and off being slow sometimes. But I haven’t updated my router since I got it 4 years ago, so that might have something to do with it. It’s just an annoying task I keep putting off.

  6. Switched to Nuro last year(10 months running), mo problem so far. Heavy gamer here + WFH . Can download / upload heavy files on no time .

  7. I don’t have it but the friends I play Valorant/Tarkov with have been complaining about getting lag spikes and drops during games very consistently, it legit happens like once every other session.

  8. I’ve been using Nuro since I moved in Yokohama region about 10 months ago, and I did not encounter any issue since then. No packet drop / throttle, and very good performances. I also use Hikari TV.
The biggest issue (but I knew it when subscribing) is that I have to stick with their shitty router (at least it has DMZ mode..) and put my own behind.. NTT on the other hand just provided me an ONT which was perfect.

However I have a friend not so far that experience lot of connection issues in the evening. Guess you get lucky or not depending on the area.
