Kyoto Itinerary Check


Hello! I want to get some feedback on my Kyoto itinerary, is it too ambitious? Or can I add more places? I have marked all places in a map so I’m certain that the places should be somewhat close to each other.

We are a young fit couple, and we like to explore as many sights as possible. Would like to add Saiho-ji temple to the itinerary but I’m not sure if I’m able.

**Tuesday May 23rd**

Morning:
Travel to the Arashiyama Bamboo forest, take bus 11 at 7:25 am from Shijo Karasuma station and get off at Nonomiya station, we will be arriving at the forest at around 8:10 am. At the forest walk towards Gioji temple the entrance costs 300 yen per person be here from 9 – 9:30 am.

Continue walking towards Saga Toriimoto Preserved Street to admire this village then walk towards Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple the entrance fee is 500 yen per person. Finish here at around 11 am.

Walk back from Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple to Saga Torokko Station this walk takes around 30 minutes, take the Sagano Romantic Train for the 12:02 departure.
Sagano Romatic Train Reservation: We have to buy tickets at 8 pm on April, the tickets cost 880 yen per person one way.

Afternoon:
Target to get the 1 pm boat, at the last stop of the Sagano Romantic Train in the Kameoka Torokka station we have to get off and get on bus 39 to get to the pier and hop on the Hozugawa boat trip this costs 4100 yen per person the boat ride lasts around 2 hours.
For tickets we can go to the Hozugawa River Boat Ride corner inside Saga Torokko Station to make same-day boat reservations.

From the endpoint of the Hozugawa Boat Ride we walk to the Togetsu-kyo Bridge and then walk towards the Iwatayama Monkey Park, this costs 600 yen per person. 3 to 4 pm here.

Walk from the Iwatayama Monkey Park to the Okochi Sanso Garden, the entrance costs 1000 yen per person, this includes a japanese sweet and a matcha tea.

Walk to Tenryu-ji temple, just buy the garden ticket for 500 yen per person, last entry time is at 4:50 pm.

Walk back towards Arashiyama station and stop by the kimono forest

Night: Rest and eat nearby the hotel

**Wednesday May 24th**

Morning:
Do the Kurama to Kibune Hike https://www.insidekyoto.com/kurama-to-kibune-hike we have to get off at the Kumara station and walk towards the red statue, then enter the Kurama-dera Temple, the fee is 300 yen, the hike takes around 3 hours.

Have lunch at Beniya Restaurant, this is a 17 minutes walk from Kibune-jinja Shrine, ask hotel to help make this reservation

Afternoon:

Visit Kinkaku-ji temple (Golden temple/Rokuonji), entrance costs 400 yen per person.

Go to the Nijo castle, the entrance is 1300 yen per person, latest entry is at 4 pm, tickets can be bought 3 months in advance here https://nijo-jocastle.city.kyoto.lg.jp/ticket/?lang=en

Senko-ji temple entrance fee for Senko-ji temple is 400 yen per person.

Night: Have dinner at Kobe Beef Steak Mouriya Gion https://www.mouriya.co.jp/en/gion/menu

**Thursday May 25th**

Morning:
1. Go to the Hokan-ji/Yosaka Pagoda entrance costs 400 yen per person
2. Go to the Yasaka Shrine entrance is free
3. Go to the Heian Shrine entrance is free
4. Go to Nanzen-ji Temple, the main temple doesn’t have an entrance fee but the sub-temples and other areas have different fees.
5. Go to Eikan-dō (Zenrin-ji) Temple entrance costs 600 yen per person.
6. Getting here will go through the philosophers path which has multiple restaurants and shops. Go to Gingakuji — Higashiyama Jisho-ji entrance costs 500 yen per person

Afternoon:
Take a bus from Ginkakuji temple to the Tea ceremony at 3:15 pm MaikoyaKyoto

After the ceremony walk to the Nishiki Market, Kimura Fresh Fish is a recommended spot but stroll around to find nice food.

Night:
Kiyomizu-dera Temple is open with special night Lightning ticket costs 600 yen per person

**Friday May 26th**

Morning:
Visit the Rengeoin Sanjusangendo temple which opens at 8 am, entrance costs 600 yen per person

Then go to Fushimi Inari Taisha, the hike up and back takes around 3 hours

Afternoon: Leave
