I just started learning Japanese and I made a sentence

I just started learning Japanese a while ago and I want you guys to tell me what I did right and what I need to improve. It’s supposed to say ” Hello my name is John and I really like cats and dogs.” It’s kind of a weird thing to say I know but I only know a few words and phrases in Japanese.
わたしのなまえわじよんですといぬとねこがだいさきです

  1. Grammatically, you wouldn’t write a run on sentence like this. It should be split in half. I recommend getting familiar with using は instead of わ, since this is the hiragana used as the subject marking sentence particle !! It is still pronounced as “wa” but is always written this way.

Your name, John, should be written in katakana. I think like this: ジョン — since it’s a foreign word/loan word.

Otherwise, you’re off to a great start !!

Something else you can do, to break it down even more, is to use the sentence particle も. も is used to say “also”.

    ジョンはいぬがだいすきです。ねこもだいすきです。

John loves dogs. He also loves cats.

  2. と means ‘and’ but it only connects two nouns like “bread and butter” if u want to say ‘and’ to connect two sentences, don’t use と、use そして

    Good job btw.
