I’m currently a junior student and my teacher is asking what high school do I go. I have no idea what to choose I don’t even know any high school here well. I plan to go to college and I’m in Tsushima Aichi.
Your teacher should have advised you on which high school you could pass the entrance exams to. I’d suggest that one.
Usually you choose whichever high school you have a chance of passing the entrance exam to. Most parents prefer their kids go to public school because it’s cheaper, but since so many kids want to get in and there are only so many openings, they are more difficult to get into. If you’re good at sports you might be able to get a recommendation (suisen) to a school that wants strong players for their team. Hasn’t your homeroom teacher explained any of your options with you or provided any guidance?
some public schools offer different programs to accept foreign students (easier entrance exams and different classes. the high school i attend now accepted me through 外国人特別枠 and i’m grateful since i definitely couldn’t have passed exams anywhere else lol) you should look them up, or ask your teacher. if private school is an option, look that up too! choose whatever school that has a curriculum that interests you and best fits your situation. if you decide to go with the suisen route be prepared for interviews! even if your tests scores are horrible they’ll let you in if your interview is good.

HR teach or ur international teach didnt recommend u any school?? And they didnt give u time to research in class??
Well if your japanese sucks there’s always 定時制高校 which is pretty easy to get in.
I’m from Aichi. If you want an IB, I’d look at Kokusai or Nagoya Kokusai.
I’d recommend going to a good public high school if you want to go to a public university. Asahigaoka, Chigusa, Okazaki, Zuiryo and Toyota Nishi come to mind but there might be schools closer to you.
If you’re okay with private schools, and you have a particular college you want to go to, you can look up the 指定校推薦 of each high school. Most schools should have Waseda, Sophia, MARCH and 関関同立. If you want to go to Sophia University or Nanzan University the easier way, look at the Nanzan schools (Nanzan Kokusai, and Nanzan Danshi if you’re a boy.)
I’d also recommend Taki, and also Tokai if you’re a boy. Their students tend to go to good colleges. Taki is more on the stricter side of things, while you can do pretty much anything you want at Tokai.
I’d advise you to go to the school festivals or the open schools, and talk to the students. Good luck!
I know at least here in Okinawa, there’s various types of schools, so if you have a certain program that interests you, (例えば、水産高校とか農業高校とか。。) that could be a start, or maybe they have a certain activity you want to participate in like a sports team or circle.
This may be out of date, but choose two–one public and one private (testing will be on different days).
Choose the public based on your practice test scores, and choose one that you at least have a chance of getting into. Then, choose the private as a fallback–one that you’re reasonably sure you’ll pass the test for.
