Amazon.com doesn’t seem to ship shoes to Japan anymore

Since I moved to Japan 14 years ago, I’ve pretty much bought my shoes from Amazon.com since it’s impossible to buy an 11.5in/29.5cm shoe anywhere in Tokyo. Another reason for doing so is I don’t want to be limited on selection.

I know the Nike store on Omotesando has larger sizes, but I want a pair of New Balance and the local stores never have anything over a 10.

Anyone know of an online store that will deliver to Japan?

  1. There is a store in Gotanda that sells large sized shoes. I have to buy 32cm and it is no problem with them. I forget the name of the store but it is close to the station and maybe some one else can chime in with the name.

  2. I wear same size as you and found lots of options in that size at ABC mart and Zara so far.

  3. I have been living in Japan for 13 years, and the number of shoes available in my size (us12) is significantly higher. All stores in omotesando now offer my sizes (e.g Nb, nike, adidas, abc mart, onitsuka tiger).
Would be a good idea to check their direct online stores.

  4. I know it’s not what you asked but MoonStar is a Fukuoka shoe brand that makes shoes beyond size 30 and has size adjustments from E to EEEE each size.

  5. Some items are tagged on amazon as « cant be sold abroad ».

Even on some amazon.com sold items. That’s probably coming from the brand who doesn’t want you to benefit from regional pricing.

  6. 14 years ago was slimmer pickings, but as someone who also wears 30cm you have a wealth of options these days. No need to ship from the US. The exceptions are fancy handmade leather shoes (somehow the only feet in Japan catered to are 27 and down). Anything sportier and you’re good!

I tend to buy my New Balances directly from their Japan site and they usually have several styles available in 30cm. Converse and as someone else mentioned Moonstar are great too. Redwing Japan also stocks your size.

  7. I used to buy NB running shoes (size 31) from Amazon US and ship to Japan. It started getting too expensive for the customs and shipping fees (like $50 for one pair) so I gave up and started buying ASICS. Note that ASICS run larger and I wear a size 30 with them.

  8. I literally ordered some 30cm shoes online about a day ago.

This isn’t 2005 anymore, you can find 29.5 and 30cm everywhere. In Osaka, they’re all over the place. If you can’t find any in Tokyo, maybe stop looking at the children’s sizes.

  9. I don’t have any good advice, but I just want to share my condolences, as one of those whose feet are too big for the regular shops, but too small for the B&T places. It’s a giant PITA.
