Hi everyone,
I’m trying to pick up a hobby that I left behind in my country due to airport rules. Does anyone have recommendations or know areas around Tokyo/Ota/Kawasaki that sell a good variety of affordable house plants (i.e. pothos, inch plant, bamboo, succulents, etc) and tools (grow lights, pots, soil)? I’m also looking into buying one of those really big house ferns, but that’ll need some saving.

Kenmart Garden Center in Kitamagome Ota-ku! Bought my pothos, succulents and snake plant for cheap on the uppermost floor. They had big house ferns there too IIRC!
Proto Leaf Garden Island near Futakotamagawa also has a pretty impressive selection of both plants and tools too.
Daiso and other 100yen stores actually often have surprisingly decent plants. They only sell mini sizes so if you are after a large plant you’ll need to look elsewhere. But if you’ve got the patience to wait for them to grow then they’re great value. Between 100-300yen depending on the size of the seedling.
I buy almost all of my plants from there. My rubber tree, pothos, peace lily, snake plant, string of bananas, table fern, cupid pepperonia, coffee plant, umbrella tree, philodendron green princess, pachira and monstera all came from Daiso or Seria. I’ve not had any issues with pests or disease from them and they’re all doing really well even after several years.
I like Ozaki Flower Park in Nerima. Access isn’t that great, but they have it all.
