C-NET and their benefits

Aside from higher pay rate than other competitive ALT companies, what are other benefits to the company?

Summer holidays, winter holidays off?

Any info is appreciated!

  1. Hi. Current C-NET. First thing to note is it’s not a company, this is a BoE direct hire position. We have a lot of the same expectations as Japanese staff but no potential for bonuses or raises and no permanent contracts. It’s yearly contracts and having to be “re-hired” after 3 years so that they can abuse a legal loophole to avoid having to offer us seishain status. We are expected to show up to school any days that the Japanese staff are, and during Obon when the schools close you can choose to use paid leave or work at the BoE. Winter holidays are the same where we are expected to show up to school any days the staff are, but we get something like the 29th to the 3rd off. National holidays are off.

If you have any other questions I’ll be around to answer for a little while.

  2. Idk about C-NET but where I’m living we have an NET direct hire program and it’s treated much like any other teaching job. You are even required to participate in school clubs and field trips. You also get a bonus (2.4) once a year. Which isn’t bad at all.

  3. Osaka prefecture has a similar program (NET, Native English Teacher). There are two bonuses a year (about 1.25 month’s pay for each bonus). You have to renew each year, but unlimited renewals. There is a path from that to a special license and tenure, but it’s quite a difficult couple of days of varied exams for that.

  4. Anyone who went through the interview and actually got hired, how long does it usually take for them to send the result of the interview?
Do they inform you even when you don’t pass?

    Thank you in advance!
