「ところで**いったい**、いつにするつもりなの」ジジはあらためてキキを見あげました。
What is the meaning of いったい in this sentence? Is it used to emphasize Jiji’s question?
Maybe I’m over-thinking this but I think I’m missing something. Here is the [script](https://nayukaaaaa.nomaki.jp/wp/dq4/dq31.html) I’ve been reading (dragon quest 3) if you need more context, which you might in this case. Basically the players meet the king and he has a request for them:
王様
「よくぞ来た! 勇者オルテガの噂は聞き及んでおるぞよ。
どうじゃまたすぐに旅立つつもりか?
“Glad you came. Talk of Hero-Ortega has met us here.”
“(how?) do you intend to be going on a trip again?”
I’m getting a bit tripped up by どうじゃ even though it seems like it could be simple, it seems a bit weird.
Is the king asking “How are you intending to go on a trip again”” or more like “Are you going on a trip again?”
