what does the shout “SOYYA” means?

In Japanese festivals or when listening to Japanese traditional music, people shout “SOYYA” excitingly, what does it mean and how do you write it in kanji/kana?

  1. You already got an answer on your other post.

It has no semantic meaning, it’s a phatic term (the other person on that thread referred to it as kakegoe, if you wanted the specific Japanese term for it)

  2. There are lots of these, they don’t mean anything, it’s juat rhythmic chanting, like “hi-ho” or something.
