  1. I don’t understand why the two Japanese companies don’t need to, or shouldn’t pay compensation.

  2. I love seeing this. In the 21st Century, Japan and South Korea really do share many of the same values and national interests. They could be great allies if they can overcome the pain from past aggression.

  3. It’s over. Long time ago. They surrendered. They were nuked. Their cities destroyed. Japan paid dearly for everything they did. This was almost 80 years ago now. Like, move on. Koreans are amazing. Half of their country is under occupation by communists because of China and they still bitch about Japan.

  4. Every time s korea runs out of money they ALWAYS pull this card. Why don’t they make their own money and stop with the bs

  5. I am curious to know why Japan keep needs to make the apology or upheld its apology had they done it right and thorough for the first time. Are they stupid or what? Maybe because they HAVEN’T. For those who believe Japan has made formal apology and paid so much money to Korea for the compensation, do you know that that apology was just a lip service and the money compensation they made to Korea, more than half of the compensation actually went to grow their own company? I am glad Korea at least some in return but let’s not think Japan did all that in good heart and to solely benefit Korea. Making an apology without sincerity is not an apology. And next time, please do everyone a favor and do some real research before spewing out some dumbass half assed information you read online.

  6. I think it is pointless. As I recall, even 10 years ago, the Park administration (now a conservative party) settled the comfort women issue with Japan paying again.
But when the leftist government came to power, they sued for invalidation, saying we did not agree to it.

  7. As Prime Minister of Japan, Prime Minister Abe expresses anew his most sincere apologies and remorse to all the women who underwent immeasurable and painful experiences and suffered incurable physical and psychological wounds as comfort women.

However, **just three weeks after the agreement**, Abe told the Japanese National Assembly, **“There was no document found that the comfort women were forcibly taken away.”** This statement directly challenged the goals in the Japan-South Korea agreement on “recovering the honor and dignity and healing the psychological wounds” of the victims. About nine months after the agreement, the South Korean side asked Abe to “send a letter of apology directly to the former comfort women.” **Abe’s reply was dismissive, saying, “I have no intention of apologizing again.”**
