Hi! I just got in for a 1 year exchange experience at Sophia University in Tokyo. I am from Canada
Has anyone done an exchange at Sophia and is able to share their experience? What’s the student life there like? Is there a big international community? How much money did you allocate/spend for your exchange (housing, food)? Is it cheaper to live in dorms or at an apartment? What are some resources for off campus housing? Thank you!

When evaluating the housing options that involve some sort of communal living situation, always write ahead to ask (1) how many showers and toilets there are per person and (2) how often they are cleaned by a professional. Another good question to ask is how many hours per week the cleaning staff comes, and if that changes throughout the year. There is a severe labor shortage in Japan, especially for anything involving physical labor and contact with foreigners.
