Hey all!
I’m new to learning Japanese and so far know hiragana and katakana.
I’ve just downloaded satori reader as I’ve heard good reviews. It’s fun to put my reading in practice.
I’m not really sure how to best utilize this app though and how I know when it’s a good time to move onto the next episode.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

They have 3 apps: Human Japanese, Human Japanese Intermediate, and Satori Reader: [https://www.humanjapanese.com/products](https://www.humanjapanese.com/products)
You are supposed to learn basic grammar and vocabulary first with the two Human Japanese apps and then use Satori Reader for intermediate reading. While you are still working through the Human Japanese apps I think Satori Reader only offers some additional exercises.
I am a Satori reader subscriber, and I really like it and use it every day. That being said, it is not really targeted at beginners or for people at advanced levels. Satori Reader is really good for upper beginner to intermediate level learning (JLPT N4 ~ N3). IMHO it is best to use Satori Reader after learning a bit of vocabulary, grammar, and Kanji. There is only about one year’s worth of content, however it is a gateway to native content.
This is my Satori Reader workflow:
1. Read the whole episode aloud, going sentence by sentence. I look up words, and grammar points that I am not familiar with by clicking on them.
2. Go back to the top of the episode and play the audio while pausing at the end of every sentence (you can use the space bar to pause). While the audio is paused at the end of the sentence, I try to read the sentence aloud myself (shadowing). For complicated sentences, I will play the audio and read aloud several times.
3. Read the whole episode aloud from top to bottom without stopping.
4. Move on to the next episode.
