Where do you tall, slim people buy your clothing basics from? In particular t-shirts/hoodies etc.

I’m 191cm and skinny so looking for a place that sells decent quality slim fit t-shirts. It seems out there t-shirts are either ¥1,000 or ¥10,000+ with not much in-between.

I know UNIQLO is the obvious answer but I’d like to do my best to avoid companies that have links with Xinjiang cotton/Xinjiang workers.

  1. Order online from outside of the country, travel and buy, find custom made, or wear things that don’t fit.

  2. I’ll upvote and comment here because I’m a woman 172cm and shoe size 26,5 having some issues finding clothes and, especially, shoes.

For clothes, I usually buy them from UNIQLO or Shimamura (quite cheap with enough quality).

For shoes, it has been complicated. I’ve been struggling to find a place with women’s shoes bigger than 25, and at an affordable price.

  3. Uniqlo wouldn’t be the answer for you anyway. Their clothes are wide but not long, you’d be wearing crop tops.

    Try European fashion like Zara.

  4. I am about a inch shorter than you and slim as well. I found super nice stuff in mode off’s and book off bazaars. But I am more of a long sleeve guy.

  5. Try out Donki. I’m not nearly that tall, but I buy the United Athle brand plain t shirts from there and find that they are long. As others have mentioned, Gap/Zara/H&M also have some options.

  6. When I visited Japan, H&M seemed to keep the American sizes for lots of things. I needed a new pair of jeans when I was there, and no Japanese store had my exact fit, but they had it as if I was in the US.

  7. Same boat. H&M and Gap sometimes have some slim-fit tees that don’t turn in to crop-tops, but otherwise it’s slim pickings (pun intended).

Recently I’ve resorted to sourcing stuff from overseas. ‘AS Colour’ have good basics, and their Staple or Classic tee’s in particular are spot-on in terms of fit (they claim regular fit, but are defintely slim, especially in comparison to stuff you get here). Very good quality materials and decent price. Intl shipping is the only thing that hurts – You’d want to buy at least 4+ shirts for it to make sense.

    For reference I’m 183cm, 72kg, and their S-size Staple/Classic tshirts are spot-on.

  8. I don’t know how much you care about brands, but Amazon Essentials fits me pretty well. Their cuts feels somewhat decent and the sizes makes more sense, so I don’t have to go for 2XL to avoid short sleeves or crop tops.

As for the pants, Uniqlo jeans are pretty decent. I like the slim tapered cuts and doesn’t feel short at all.

As for the footwear, I have to go for whatever I find that has 29.5cm+ in stock. Usually Seyu have 29.5cm+ models, but again, if you are into style, maybe you wouldn’t wear that.

  9. I assume you are a man but since I am tall and slim, I’ll answer anyway about stores that sell both men and women’s clothing. I usually stick to foreign brands like H&M and Zara. I also order from Next (their online UK shop is cheaper then their shops here ime). Unless Tommy Hilfiger adjusts their clothes to Japanese height average here, they might also be a good bet. My ex who was taller then you would get his clothes from there.

  10. I’m 190cm and a mix between fat and beefy, but our solutions are the same; online, baby

  11. Don Quixote sells brands like Hanes, United Athletic, Diesel, Russell Athletic, Calvin Klein etc and most branches have basic plain shirts and tanks in sizes that should fit you

  12. Not in Japan and online, but Express ships to Japan. They have long and slim sizes. I don’t know how much shipping is.

  13. Just try foreign stores like American Eagle, Old Navy, Hollister, Zara, Gap, etc I’m in same boat

  14. Finding slim clothes will be a challenge, bud. It’s one that I deal with. Uniqlo has me covered for work clothes, but I’m average height and fit.

Baggy oversized everything is in fashion at the moment. I don’t know what your best bet would be. Maybe see if there isn’t a “big and tall” equivalent in your city.

  15. As a woman who is 173 cms and whose legs make up 103 cms of my body I get my men’s XXXL clothes from 大きいサイズの店フォーエル

They aren’t actually wide just long.

  16. I pick up clothes from western brands like Zara and COS in Mercari. Got a two piece COS relaxed suit for 1man recently, originally 3.5man.
