Child birth registration

My wife’s name on residence card is different (name before marriage) while my kids birth certificate issued abroad have different name(after marriage)

Will this cause issue in child birth registration at ward office?
Do I have any workaround?

Also do I need to bring Japanese translated birth certificate?

Thanks in advance.

  1. “My wife’s name on resident card”

Is your wife a foreigner? And if so, has your wife legally changed her name in her home country?

If so then she was supposed to update immigration of her name change within 14 days after changing her name: https://www.isa.go.jp/en/applications/procedures/nyuukokukanri10_00009.html

So that’s an immigration issue there.

“While my kids birth certificate issued abroad”

Your kids were born overseas? If so then unless they are Japanese nationals, you don’t need the register the birth.

Assuming your kids are not Japanese nationals, you’d need to go to immigration to get them a dependent visa (or if you or your wife are PR before the birth, you *might* be able to get them PR)
