Can you guys give me tips for studying wanikani vocabulary better?

I feel like i’m unable to use a lot of them because i either don’t remember them before i see it again on wanikani, or i don’t know how to use the words in a sentence.

  1. Cancel subscription, remove it from bookmarks and history and such, never go back to website, unsubscribe from their emails

  2. Wanikani is very good at one thing, and nothing else. How to read kanji. Learning the radical stories, then the kanji stories, really helped me. Kanji is just one part of learning Japanese, you should join a class if you can, get a tutor, use a text book, read books, watch a tv progrum, a movie, whatever turns you on. Wanikani and reading being able to read kanji is only one part of the larger puzzle of learning Japanese. All the pieces matter.

  3. You don’t have to use the mnemonic they give. Making your own is often more memorable. Use the note function. Also if a mnemonic isn’t sticking make a new one!

In terms of remembering the mnemonic make it as visual as you can. In three dimensions with the story actions being vivid and unique (e.g., ridiculous, violent, sexual).
