Im current at dai 4 shuu vocab and dai 3 shuu kanji (soumatome). I tried to read dai 1 shuu 7 日目 and holy f. I couldn’t read at all like 40 % of the paragraph because of so many kanji and goi idk. Do i need to finish both goi and kanji first to start picking up Reading or kay be i just didnt study enough?

I think they operate under the assumption of a sequence: vocabulary, kanji, grammar, reading, listening.
Assuming that they followed the same rule as the N1 books, the day 7’s in the reading book will only use furigana for words that are above the JLPT level you’re currently studying. It should be written in the ‘how to use this book’ section. But yeah, to answer the questions you’re gonna need vocab, kanji and grammar for the level you’re on, so it’s probably worth doing those three books before doing the reading one.

I like soumatome as much as the next guy (I only ever used that book series to learn), but I do suggest you branch out a bit…..and just read other stuff….it will help out a lot more than just reading that kind of content…just my humble opinion.

Full disclosure tho, from N3 and on, I only used 総まとめ grammar books, I went other routes for kanji, vocab, reading and listening
