I’ve been living in Japan for past 4 years and have a PR residency and am facing a likely scenario of moving back to US later this year. My question is what are the steps I need to take to do this smoothly and follow all rules / procedures etc? For those who have been through this / have knowledge on this could you please share?
For example, anything special I need to do to close my financial accounts (bank, CC, etc)? What about national pension – do I get that money back that I put in over the years? Does any of this change if I want to keep PR for 5 years upon leaving? How exactly do I get this PR extension approved btw? Any other big things like city hall address change, etc?
Also any tips on how to sell/ get rid of large furniture??
