Ceviche is raw fish marinated in lime juice. The acid from the limes “cooks” the fish, denaturing the proteins. It doesn’t taste like most raw fish, but it certainly doesn’t taste like traditionally cooked fish either. Then you just mix it with some chopped vegetables, in this case onions and cilantro, and eat it with fried corn tortillas or tortilla chips. It is also my favorite food.
Tiradito is basically peruvian sashimi. The main difference is that it is normally covered in a spicy and acidic sauce. In this case, I made leche de tigre, which is made by mixing lime juice that has been used to make ceviche, and mixing it with aji amarillo pepper paste. I also added ginger, garlic, and cilantro.
The zucchini was just in my fridge lol.
edit: Maybe sushi-like was not the correct term. I am much more familiar with Latin American dishes than I am with Japanese ones, just thought you guys might enjoy.
omg yes 🤤
This isn’t sushi. Not even close. Get out
Peruvian food is amazing
Sushi? What in the gaijin
That Corelle Ware Golden Butterfly / Wheat pattern tho
Tiradito and ceviche variations are great.
OP, I see you use aji amarillo. Do you know why the aji in NY is green? I think it’s cut with mayo, do you use any?
