PSA: THCO and a few other substances will be illegal starting March 20th.

In the past few months, there have been a few threads of people asking about synthetic cannabinoids that have been thus far legal to buy in Japan.

The government announced on Friday, March 10th that they are going to designate seven substances as drugs and they will be illegal to sell, buy or use unless you have the permission of a doctor. The ban will go into effect on March 20th so if you possess any of these substances you should make sure to dispose of them in a timely manner.

If you want to check the full list of substances subject to these new rules, the MHLW has a PDF on this page with a full list:

  1. Not surprised in the least. Decriminalizing cannabis would be far better way to eliminate the usage of these more dangerous chemical analogues.

  2. Wait, there was an LSD analogue that’s technically been legal until now??

  3. Well, it was bound to happen. Won’t be long before they come up with new shit though. Might as well legalize at this point, and finally implement some proper regulations and education instead of going all weed is bad, but feel free to get pass-out drunk while vomiting all over yourself.

  4. I just got a surplus of THCO on sale. So, I have to finish all of this myself within 8 days? Why such short notice?

  5. Good riddance, I say. All drugs and crap like that is for losers. I enjoy living here because you don’t have nearly as many worthless potheads. It’d be great if alcohol was banned, as well IMO

  6. Holy shit I’m stupid and a dork . Read Thac0 and wondered why that would be illegal. Didn’t even know what THCO was.

  7. Are there places in Tokyo still still selling it? Might as well have some before they close up shop.

  8. Anyone here think the police would subpoena any of the online sellers for the customers’ information post facto?

For example, supplier sold a ton of it to one buyer a day or two before the legal status changes. An amount that would be impossible to consume. Could the police force the seller release their sales data? And initiate search etc?

My friend was just wondering if stocking up on from online merchants might leave too many bread crumbs. Credit cards… Names, addresses.. etc.

Is my friend being too paranoid?
