[Itinerary Check] 8 Days around Tohoku – 2 People

Hello, My partner and I live in Japan, and are planning on going around Tohoku during Obon. We’re mostly hoping to catch three of the Summer festivals.

The main thing we want to check is are we able to do everything comfortably here? (weather excluded, Summer is never comfortable)
We’ll be getting the JR East Pass and using it through the most expensive days.

**Day 0**: Night bus from Kyoto (9pm)

**Day 1**: Arrive at Sendai Station at 7:30-8am. Go to Tashirojima (cat island) on the 9am ferry from Ishinomaki. Leave on the 2pm ferry. Go back to Sendai to see the Tanabata festival in the evening.

**Day 2**: In the morning, go to Matsushima bay. Afterwards, travel to Akita and watch the Kanto Festival

**Day 3**: Travel to Aomori and watch the Nebuta Festival. (Not a lot this day to try and relax from the heat)

**Day 4**: Go to Kabushima shrine and if possible, the Oirase Gorge. In the late afternoon/early evening, travel to Morioka, Iwate.

**Day 5**: In the morning, go to Ryusendo caves. Afterwards, Jodogahama Beach. Then travel to Yamagata.

**Day 6**: Hike Yamadera in the morning. Then make our way to Fukushima.

**Day 7**: In the morning, go to Sazae-do, afterwards Tsuruga Castle. Then travel back to Kyoto via the night bus.

Our biggest concern is whether or not we will have time to do both Kabushima shrine, and Oirase Gorge without a car.

Also, if anyone is aware of any vegan/vegetarian restaurants in any of these areas, recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much!
