The fact that we had the Sagamihara mass murder and it was in the news for about a day says a lot. The families apparently did not want the victims names released, which I can respect but worry it was mostly because they felt they should be ashamed of having a disabled person in their family.
In a lot of other countries I expect we would have had several programs highlighting the victims lives and their humanity etc.
I’m not saying it is entirely a disabled issue – when there is almost any “uncomfortable” story it is swept under the carpet very quickly.
