German university quietly removes “comfort women” statue amid pressure from Japan

1. perfectly reasonable. regardless of the actual topic, anyone must concede that both countries but especially Korea very much use it as a tool in their modern politics. so for an unrelated third country to be involved in the political conflict between two countries is just odd.

It’s quite odd that Germany points the finger at Japan indirectly with this statue given their own war crimes during WW2 which included rape too of women they considered as ‘less’ in certain countries in Eastern Europe. Granted, Germany has done a lot to apologize for what they did but still I think it’s highly inappropriate. If this statue was placed in a different country that actually had been affected by the comfort women issue such as China, Korea, Australia or the Netherlands to name a few, it would be a different story.
