Questions about buying to much online and maybe some laws in Japan?

Does someone knows if you buy a lot of things online can get you in trouble?

Like I´m buying a lot of things and the delivery man said it have to contact the police because of this.

Is this some type of law in Japan for security?

Does the police will suspect of me because I´m buying a lot online?

I´m a collector and that is why I buy a lot online.

  1. what the fuck lol. I have daily deliveries and I’ve never heard of this. You can buy whatever the hell you want as long as you can afford it. this is Japan not some weird communist dictatorship.

  2. What?

Aside from grocery shopping(and even some of that) most of our shopping is online. Some days we’re getting 5+ packages delivered. Never any problems. Our normal delivery guy even calls us to confirm we are home if the packages are heavy or extra numerous.

  3. Damn, I should be in prison by now then.

Delivery guy will probably come around 20 times a month delivery stuff to me. I sell stuff online and do a lot of sketchy stuff and never heard such thing lmao.

You know what? I will buy even more now.

  4. If you buy too much online and say his name three times into the mirror, the Sagawaman will kill you in your sleep!

  5. No, unless you are importing things subject to import duties without paying them or products which are otherwise illegal in Japan.

  6. “the delivery man said it have to contact the police”

Maybe a bad joke. Got a chuckle from imagining going to the police station and handing myself in while declaring that I order to much stuff online though.

  7. As long as you are not buying anything illegal then I don’t know why this will be a problem. If it is related to hoarding, they can’t even do anything to people with houses filled with trash and a nuisance to their neighbors.

  8. Definitely no. I buy so much online that, at times, I have a two meter high stack of flattened cardboard waiting to go out on cardboard day. If ordering too much online was illegal I would be on most wanted posters in every post office.

  9. There are some people on student visas who buy stuff for others back home for profit, which they don’t like.

Are you moving a lot of items – that they think you’re doing this?

  10. >the delivery man said it have to contact the police because of this.

    Omg, please stop, my sides!

  11. What is your level of japanese? Could it be a misunderstanding? Also unless it’s the same guy or even same company how do they even know the amount you are receiving?

  12. Maybe this is a lost in translation thing?
He was probably making a joke or he was just sick of going to your place, lol.

  13. Sounds like the delivery dude tried to make a joke after delivering to you so many times but maybe it fell flat.

  14. My delivery girl silently judges me for all I buy online, but beyond that I doubt there is any problem unless you’re importing improperly or not paying for CoD orders, or something.

  15. Depends what you’re buying. There was a post a while back by a guy who ordered a ton of gas cartridges for making “whipped cream” (N2O).

The police apparently stopped by to check how many cakes he was making. He may or may not still be in Japan now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  16. If it were actually illegal I don’t think the sagawa-man would be the one to inform you of it

  17. Maybe the delivery man is sick of you ordering 15kg packs of strong zero up four flights of stairs 🤣

  18. Tell the seller to stop putting stuff like “Bootleg porn DVDs”, “Knock-off Nikes from Shanghai” or “Endangered Rhino horns” in the contents description and this problem will likely go away.

  19. He thinks that you resell/scalp them. In Japan, you have to pay tax for money you earn when you resell many things.

  20. Nobody is asking this—how’s your Japanese?
Sounds like a joke that went over your head.
