More specifically im curious about the n4 because that’s the one most relevant to me rn. But in general is fine too

  1. I’ve only taken N2 and N1.

Keigo comprises of teineigo (desu・masu), sonkeigo, kenjōgo, and bikago as well as teichōgo (your linguistic catagories may vary in the last two).

Teineigo would feature on all the tests.

N2 and N1 will have sonkeigo.

  2. N4 is very basic japanese so probably not much but your best bet is to get a jlpt prep book from amazon. once you get to n1 it’s the full register of politeness from casual to business and academic and cultural understanding questions picking the right response to a certain statement in context.

  3. Today I took N3 and the number of questions on keigo in general was surprisingly low. Especially considering keigo is only mainly introduced post N4 (at least in my materials)

  4. In my experience taking N2 and N1, they normally have one grammar question on some keigo. There may also be a reading question later on all in keigo like in an email
