Anyone have tips on painting textured wallpaper walls?

We have textured wallpaper walls and we want to do something for a small area to spice things up a bit. I used to be a painting contractor in another country, but I’ve never worked with the textured wallpaper they have here. Any tips tricks or no no’s I should consider beforehand?

  1. I did it in a room, i put two coats of エコフラット60 as a base then one coat of my color of choice, and it looks quite nice if i can say so myself. But also it was my first time touching a paint roller, so maybe my standards are not as high as yours.

[Top picture](https://imgur.com/a/dG5R1R2) is after one coat of white base (you can see the original WP on the right, the teapots and cups are textured), bottom is after the color coat.

  2. If you’re renting the place, check your contract first. There’s a good chance that you’re not allowed to paint the walls.

  3. Sealer, or stain fixing sealer if there was a smoker there before you, then paint over that.

When my wife and I bought our house I did all the experiments. I removed the wallpaper, sealed, painted directly, and even plastered over the wallpaper. Honestly, the plaster is my favorite, but that’s just my personal preference.

    Good luck!
